What is UH-GAF?

The University of Hertfordshire [UH] is the first full-fledged branch campus of a British university in Egypt that encompasses all UH schools and faculties, and brings globally accredited bachelor’s degrees from the UK to Egypt.

Will I be able to study abroad at UH campus in the UK if I’m
enrolled in UH campus in Cairo?

As a UH student in Cairo, you will be able to complete up to two semesters at the UH campus in the UK with no added tuition fees (travel, accommodation and personal expenses are covered by the student).

Will I study the same courses and modules here at UH in Cairo
as those taught at UH in the UK?

UH’s international branch in Egypt follows the same teaching framework and is committed to delivering the same quality of education, courses and modules.

This international branch campus will be reviewed periodically by UH’s main campus and Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education (QAA) to ensure that consistent quality standards are delivered.

Does UH-GAF offer transportation for students?

UH – GAF provides paid transportation to all students with multiple pickup points across Greater Cairo.

Does UH - GAF accept students with special needs?

The University is designed and equipped to welcome all students including those with special needs; nonetheless, given the sensitivity and the special requirements of some cases, the University will assess and consider each special needs application on a case-by-case basis.

Does University of Hertfordshire in Egypt accept UCAS
tariff points for direct entry?

IB students are Eligible to convert their IB points into UCAS Tariff points, however the following conditions may apply:

• Student must achieve 2 Higher level subjects, equivalent to 2 A levels.
• English requirements are met if the student has taken English Language either at Standard or Higher-Level grade 4 or above.
• All remaining points can be made up for by any of the other subjects, extended essay, or theory of knowledge.

What is Global Academic Foundation - GAF?

Global Academic Foundation GAF is a leading academic institution in the Arab Republic of Egypt operating under the Egyptian Ministry of Higher Education in compliance with the International Branch Camus Law No. 162 of 2018, is hosting University of Hertfordshire [UH] as the first full-fledged branch campus of a British university in Egypt that encompass all UH schools and faculties and bringing globally accredited Bachelor Degrees from the UK to Egypt.

Did GAF build a full campus to host the University of
Hertfordshire? Where?

At the University of Hertfordshire in Egypt hosted by GAF, our high-tech, vibrant, purpose-built campus stretches over 50 acres of land to include 22 buildings in phase one of 3 phases.

Student facilities, currently available in phase one, include a football court, a multipurpose court, a gym, a library and a café along with our state-of-the-art lecture theatres.
‍
GAF is 5 minutes away from Hyde Park based in the New Administrative Capital, Phase One, R5 – Code 6.

What does an International Branch Campus [IBC] offer?

IBC entails commitment by the foreign university to all academic aspects:

Starting from student matriculation at the foreign university, access to its online library, graduation ceremony attendance to get the exact degree offered at the main foreign university campus and the same quality of education.

Does GAF award any degrees?

GAF is the host for The University of Hertfordshire [UH]: the full-fledged branch campus in Cairo; meaning that all degrees are awarded directly by the University of Hertfordshire [UH] according to UH qualification standards and in line with both the British and Egyptian regulations.

GAF does not offer any academic degrees; all our degrees are awarded by our hosted University [UH], directly from the UK.

Can I transfer from my programme of choice to another
after acceptance?

Yes, you can within the first week of starting the academic year after submitting a request for the respective department and acquiring the required approvals.

Is the School of Engineering 4 or 5 years?

Four years including Foundation year

Is the School of Physiotherapy 5 or 6 years?

Five Years Including Foundation year

Are all students allowed to study abroad? If yes, what
are the criteria?

Yes, after the Foundation Year they can study a full year at UH/UK with the same GAF fees. The criteria for admissions are set by UH/UK.

What is the Early Bird discount?

The Early Bird discount is 10% discount on net fees of the first year of enrollment at UH-GAF.

How much is the early bird discount?

The early bird discount is 10%, which amounts to up to 21,000 Egyptian Pounds for the first year.

When does the Early Bird discount expire?

Students are eligible for 2021 Early Bird discount, if the student applied before March, 31st.

Are there any specific requirements to benefit from the early
bird discount?

The admission required documents are sufficient to qualify you for the early bird discount. There are no additional documents or requirements needed to be able to receive it.

Is the early bird discount applicable on all programmes?

Yes; up to 22,000 Egyptian Pounds discount is applicable on all programmes.

Is the Early Bird deposit refundable?

A Non-refundable early bird deposit is paid by the provisionally accepted students to secure their slot in the requested major within the coming session 2021-2022. This gives the university administrators an indication with regards to the number of students accepting our offer to plan for the coming classes in terms of tutoring and facilities. However, a student may be eligible for a 50% refund of the early bird deposit if and only if, his/her academic qualifications (English language requirement and/or secondary school average) do not meet the minimum requirements of UH in Egypt. The refund request should be submitted to UH in Egypt Student Affairs prior to September 1st. Please note that, no refund for the early bird deposit is accepted after the final acceptance or in case of no show.

What are the admission requirements?

How long does it take to receive the provisional acceptance?

You will receive your provisional acceptance within seven working days. However, time may vary according to your case.

How long does it take to receive the acceptance letter?

The process of examining a particular subject may take up to two weeks. Applying to some departments may take longer than usual considering the presence of additional requirements.

Should all transfer students take foundation year?

It depends on UH-UK recommendations, contact our admission department to review your case.

May I apply for the university January?

Yes, you may under the same conditions and admission criteria.

What is the condition for me to continue receiving the
scholarship grant?

You are entitled to receive the grant subject to continuing with the same academic performance with no less than good as an overall grade for each of the following academic years.

Will the students be required to perform degree
equivalence in Egypt?

All awarded degrees by the UH hosted by GAF in Egypt are accredited by the Egyptian ministry higher education and acknowledged by all local syndicates in Egypt. The graduated students will not be required to go through any equivalency procedures as their awarded degrees are already accredited and acknowledged by the Egyptian authority. This is a reference to the presidential decree 162, 2018.

May I transfer from my major of choice to another
after acceptance?

Yes, you may do that within a time limit not exceeding the first week of starting the academic year. After submitting a request for the same and acquiring the required approvals.

Do you offer academic excellence scholarship? Who would
be eligible for academic excellence scholarships and how?

Yes, UH – GAF offers several academic excellence scholarships in the form of discounted fees. The scholarships are granted to the top students amongst the accepted applicants, who are announced after acceptance of the first batch of the year only.

What are the conditions for me to continue receiving the
scholarship grant?

You are entitled to receive the grant subject to continuing with the same academic performance with no less than good as an overall grade for each of the following academic years.

Are there any available alternatives for the IELTS and TOEFL?

I am an international student, what is the type of currency
do I use to pay my tuition fees? And what scholarship grants
or financial aid programsare offered?

International students are required to pay their tuition fees in Sterling Pounds.
Scholarships and financial aid will be issued by a decision from the relevant committee which decides on each case separately.

What are the requirements for IGCSE for each program?

The admissions will stick to the Early admissions decisions for all applicants who paid the deposit as per the announced admissions minimum requirements stated on the website. However, for other applicants,

When is the early admission and its deadline?

Early-bird admissions starts in Jaunary until March 31st. The university will make an official announcement prior the beginning of the early-bird admissions period.

What is the application fee for UH – GAF?

The application fees are 1,000 Egyptian Pounds (non-refundable)

Are the tuition fees fixed? Do the tuition fees increase?

The students’ tuition fees are subject to an annual increase up to 10% based on market inflation. UH-GAF will announce the tuition fee increase, if present, on an annual basis and prior to the subsequent admissions season.

Are there instalment plans, if yes, what are the plans?

Fees are paid annually over up to 2 instalments.

Are there any extra fees other than the tuition fees?

Yes, books fees, administrative fees, lab fees, and bus fees.

What are the available discounts other than the academic
scholarships?

Yes, Early Bird discount and Judicial club Discount.

Miscellaneous Fees

• Tuition fees: August 31st deadline to pay tuition fees without penalties (session A)
• December 31st deadline to pay tuition fees for session B
• April 15th, deadline to pays session C
• Any delays in payment will incur a 5% penalty on the remaining fees.
