About the Degree

Accounting and finance professionals are important to almost all functions of business. Choosing an accounting and finance career path means you will have a profession that is constantly in high demand. The combination of the Accounting and Finance degree is unique to our university and opens a wide range of career opportunities for our graduates.

With this degree, our students learn about corporate reporting, auditing, corporate law and management accounting, as well as develop your general business and commercial awareness. The degree also provides an understanding of the key areas of financial accounting and corporate finance in great depth. These cover topics such as financial strategy, taxation, Islamic banking and information systems.

Progression Requirements:  From IFP to Level 4

Students are expected to demonstrate progress toward completion of their major degree; accordingly, they must meet the following requirements in the International Foundation Program (IFP) to progress to Level 4
  •  Achieve a grade of 40% or more in all other modules. 

    Progression requirements from Level 4 onwards

    Notes regarding progression from Level 4 into 5;

    -Progression to level 5 on the honours route requires 120 credit points at level 4; for students with fewer than 120 credits at level 4progression will be determined by the Programme Examination Board

    -Students must pass Accounting Principles module before being allowed to progress to level 5 on this programme.

    Notes regarding progression from Level 5 into Level 6;

    -Progression to level 6 on the honours route requires 240 credit points at levels 4 and 5, of which at least 120 credit points must be at level 5; for students with fewer than 240 credit points at levels 4 and 5 progression will be determined by the Programme Examination Board.

    Notes regarding awards gained on completion of Level 6;

    -The award of an honours degree requires 360 credit points, with at least 240 credit points at level 5 or above, of which at least 120credit points must be at level 6. -An unclassified degree requires 300 credit points, with at least 180 credit points at level 5 or above, of which at least 60 credit points must be at level 6.
